Small Business Spotlight: Nour’s Pixie Dust

During this time (and always!) it is so important to support local and the small business in our communities. Plus it’s great for the economy too! We are constantly inspired by the ambition and resilience of small business founders. We feel that the risks that they take lead to innovation and help in moving the world forward.

Inspired by these entrepreneurs and their stories, we recently chatted with Nour Zaazaa – owner of Nour’s Pixie Dust, about being an entrepreneur, running a small business while also running a family, and how she’s adapted to the changes that Covid-19 has brought to her business.

What is your business about and why did you start it?

Kids. It’s all about kids! Being a mom of two cheeky little boys, and always trying to find something new to keep them busy was the main reason for me to start my business. It is always very hard to find new toys that are educational and fun at the same time; toys that can help children develop all their skills, enjoy and stay busy for a while.

That’s why I decided to go live with our company, Nour‘s Pixie Dust. We are an e-commerce business. We sell toys and organize children’s events, as well as fun and educational activities.

What do you love about your business?

Actually, this business is very active and frankly I am an active person. I am passionate about making enjoy and learning at the same time. It’s not just about posting the toys online.

One has to always up to date with all the  new toys and always search for the best quality versus value. Discussions and interaction with kids is a great source of info for us because they tell you what kind of toys they prefer and what are their favorite themes.

In addition to what I mentioned, event organization has always been something I really admired. I enjoy doing birthday decorations, and coming up with outstanding ideas to keep kids happy and entertained!!

How do you manage your time between running a business and a family?

Well, here comes the hardest part! Can you imagine that your house is a mini toy shop?

Haha, my kids always get crazy and want all the toys that I get for my business. Sometimes I just hide the stock and work while they sleep or are at school! But again, they are my strength and because it is an online business, I don’t have to go out to an office and I can just work while I am at home with them.

How has Covid-19 affected your business and how have you adapted?

Well I just started, but because of Covid now everyone is shopping online, and being an e-commerce is a purely online job so it will not affect us negatively at all!

Any piece of advice to other small businesses owners or anyone wanting to start their own business?

I  just want to tell anyone who has a dream, please don’t stop and don’t let anyone bring you down. Always fight. In life there are lots of ups and downs, even in your downs look always up, follow your dreams and they will definitely become true.
