The Imhotep Museum at Saqqara, founded in 2006, is a site museum designed to house artifacts from local excavations. It serves to prepare visitors for their visit to the necropolis of Saqqara, which includes the Serapeum, the Step Pyramid of King Djoser, the pyramids of King Teti and King Unas, and elite tombs from all eras of ancient Egyptian history. The museum is named after Imhotep, the Old Kingdom official credited with designing the Step Pyramid; later deified, he became revered as a wise man and a patron of medicine. The display includes reconstructed architectural elements from the Step Pyramid complex, beautiful statuary, and objects from royal and elite tombs. The labels are in Arabic, English, and French.
