Dubai is known for its beaches, water parks, malls and outdoor activities, but anyone who lives in the UAE has to admit that the food scene in Dubai is always bustling.

Right now, the Dubai Food Festival is on, Dubai Restaurant Week is here and there are a whole lot of food-related activities on for families and kids until Sunday, May 7th. Calling all foodies, food lovers and anyone who wants to enjoy a great meal deal: put on some clothes with an elastic waistband and get ready to explore Dubai’s culinary treasures and indulgences!

The DFF and Dubai Restaurant Week are a great time to make trying new foods and cuisines fun for your kids. Many of us have kids at home that prefer plain pasta or chicken nuggets to a nice salad, but, during the food festival, you can take them out of their comfort zone, by getting them to taste some fun new foods. If your kids already love to eat, then it also works, as there are so many fun events and great deals on food. To top it off, whether you want your kids to explore new foods, or they are budding foodies, there are some great food-related workshops that they can take part in. These workshops are guaranteed to turn any kid into a foodie.

Special Events: The Dubai Food Festival’s 10th anniversary is in full swing until the 7th of May, showcasing international and local Emirati and Arab cuisine. The DFF anniversary celebrations include “Chefs on a Bus” a must-see for all kids and parents who love cooking shows. As part of the Food Festival, explore your favorite restaurants, and ones that you’ve always wanted to try, with Dubai Restaurant Week, which has 40 participating restaurants offering a two-course lunch for 95 dirhams or a three-course dinner of 150 dirhams, including some of Dubai’s most famous eateries like COYA, Maison Mathis and Reform Social and Grill.

The Etisalat Beach Canteen is also back at Jumeirah Beach with not only great food, but also live entertainment and a dedicated kids’ area, where kids can play while you chow down on some delicious grub.

Workshops: To turn your kids into food lovers, to get them to be less picky eaters, or just to let them explore their kitchen skills if they love cooking, sign them up for one of the many cooking workshops on during the DFF. At the Arabian Tea House, there’s a kids’ workshop on, where your kids can explore local customs in a traditional setting that will take them back in time. At Reif Japanese Kushiyaki, there’s a sushi-making workshop perfect for sushi lovers, and that’s great for developing their fine motor skills and craftiness with all that rolling and arranging. If your kid wants something a little wilder, sign them up for the BlackTap CrazyShake masterclass, where they can make some over-the-top milkshakes that will make them very popular with their friends and siblings. After making a Crazyshake, the kids will serve your family some burgers too, leaving everyone with a full tummy.

If you’re the one in the family who dreams of being a Master Chef, then it’s the right time to finesse your culinary skills with a Paella Masterclass at Lola Taberna Española. Their chef will teach you the secret to an authentic Spanish paella, and show you how to make one yourself, step-by-step. You will definitely impress your guests when you can make them a paella at home.

Deals: One of the most popular parts of the Dubai Food Festival, is, of course, the 10 Dirhams Dish, where some of Dubai’s best and most famous restaurants offer their signature dishes to taste, for only 10 dirhams! That means an incredible chance to try some gourmet food and indulge like you never have before, without breaking the bank. It’s also a great option with kids, as you can get them to sample a few dishes, without wasting food or money.

Join the Dubai Food Festival activities until this Sunday, May 7th, all around Dubai.
