Small Business Spotlight: Yalla Balloons

During this time (and always!) it is so important to support local and the small business in our communities. Plus it’s great for the economy too! We are constantly inspired by the ambition and resilience of small business founders. We feel that the risks that they take lead to innovation and help in moving the world forward.

Inspired by these entrepreneurs and their stories, we recently chatted with Batool Rashid – owner of Yalla Balloons, about being an entrepreneur, running a small business while also running a family, and how she has adapted to the changes that Covid-19 has brought to her business.

What is your business about and why did you start it?

Yallaballoons is an online business and we create bespoke balloon decor specially designed and personalised for our prestige clientele.

I wanted to be part of the e-commerce business community for many years and was waiting for the right opportunity. While organizing our loved ones birthdays I always struggled to find unique sustainable balloon decor.

As e-commerce became more prominent and I had access to quality sustainable products it was an opportunity to cater to not only our loved ones celebrations but help the community at large.

What do you love about your business?

Spreading smiles and love through our Balloon creations and the creativity that comes with it gives immense inner satisfaction.

How do you manage your time between running a business and a family?

It’s all about balance and time management. Being in the entertainment services most of my weekends are busy creating balloon orders but I always make time for family and having a great supportive team and family  is like a cherry on the icing.

How has Covid-19 affected your business and how have you adapted?

We had just started our business when covid struck the world and it has been a challenging time !

We were blessed enough to have had setup our delivery services before the lock down and adhering to safety guidelines and contact less deliveries we were able to help many celebrate their loved ones special occasions during the lockdown and through the pandemic.

Keeping with the trends, being aware of the evolving situation we have gained the trust of our clients.

Any piece of advice to other small businesses owners or anyone wanting to start their own business?

Be Patient and enjoy the magic when it happens. When challenges come your way take them as an opportunity.
