Small Business Spotlight: Viva la Bow

During this time (and always!) it is so important to support local and small businesses in our communities, and it’s great for the economy too! We are constantly inspired by the ambition and resilience of small business founders and feel that the risks that they take lead to innovation and help in moving the world forward.

Inspired by these entrepreneurs and their stories, we recently chatted with Rebecca Davis – owner of Viva la Bow about being an entrepreneur, running a business while also running a family, and how she has adapted to the changes that Covid-19 had brought to her business.

What is your business about and why did you start it?

Viva la bow specializes in hair bows for little girls. All the bows are exclusively handmade and designed by the owner. Each bow is the perfect accessory to every outfit, they work just as well with the party dress or to cute up the school uniform.  I started Viva la bow when my daughter was born and I was struggling to find cute hair accessories to go with all her dresses.

What do you love about your business?

I love seeing my bows on all different nationalities and cute little ladies all over UAE, it feels truly special.

How do you manage your time between running a business and a family?

Managing a business with 3 small kids is hardcore but I do most of my work after bed time which means many late nights ?

How has Covid-19 affected your business and how have you adapted?

My business has gone from a side hobby to a vital part of supporting our family during covid-19 since we have been affected by the crisis. This is something I feel super proud of however it’s a juggle with home schooling and everything else that is going on.

Any piece of advice to other small businesses owners or anyone wanting to start their own business?

I would say just go for it. If you believe in it enough make it happen. It is true what they say – every time you shop from a small company somewhere someone does a little happy dance.
