During this time (and always!) it is so important to support local and the small business in our communities. Plus it’s great for the economy too! We are constantly inspired by the ambition and resilience of small business founders. We feel that the risks that they take lead to innovation and help in moving the world forward.

Inspired by these entrepreneurs and their stories, we recently chatted with Hadil Al Khatib – owner of The Broth Lab by The Roost Rotisserie, about being an entrepreneur, running a small business while also running a family, and how she has adapted to the changes that Covid-19 has brought to her business.

What is your business about and why did you start it?

The Broth Lab is your one-stop-shop for everything BROTH!

Owned by parents and with a strong focus on delivering fresh and wholesome goodness to you and your loved ones, all of our products are made using Antibiotic-Free, Hormone-Free, Free Range produce with the added benefit of non-GMO and no preservatives, no refined sugars and no nasties used in anything we prepare.

Just good ol’ broth the way Grandma used to make it.

All of our broth is prepared fresh daily and there are many varieties for you to enjoy.

What do you love about your business?

I love that it is a reflection of what I truly believe in. As a certified Health Coach, food is medicine and the Bone Broth is an ancient SUPERFOOD, so rich in collagen, amino acids and other minerals which are essential for immunity boosting and improving digestive function among many other benefits. I have created a page on Instagram called Heal with Hadil which shares more information about its healing superpowers.

How do you manage your time between running a business and a family?

I don’t! Just kidding. It’s not easy, I am sure many working moms and mom entrepreneurs can relate. For me personally, finding your support system is crucial. Good trustworthy help, a good team and delegation on minor matters (God knows it took me a while to delegate, since I am such a hands on mother) is key.

I try to keep a positive mindset on tougher days. It can get mentally draining but when you see how far you’ve come, its completely worth it.

It is always family above all at the end of the day.

How has Covid-19 affected your business and how have you adapted?

The DHA and other Health organizations like the WHO have announced and shared information on how Bone Broth is a great way to boost the immunity, recover from covid-19 and other viruses and recommended all households to stock up on it during lock down.

Moreover, it is a crucial remedy to heal a leaky gut, in a world where kids have so many allergies, sinus and ear infections, food intolerance and IBS is common, mothers especially have realized how important it is to cook all their kids (and family meals) in bone broth.

Moreover, Contactless deliveries across the UAE have also helped us go through the difficult times during COVID. We have a beautiful community at The Broth Lab, who is my extended family, they share love and kindness through their testimonials and have always been supportive since day 1.
