Small Business Spotlight: Petit Gifts Dubai

During this time (and always!) it is so important to support local and the small business in our communities. Plus it’s great for the economy too! We are constantly inspired by the ambition and resilience of small business founders. We feel that the risks that they take lead to innovation and help in moving the world forward.

Inspired by these entrepreneurs and their stories, we recently chatted with Ainhoa Marrodan and Maria Paz Naranjo – owners of Petit Gifts Dubai, about being entrepreneurs, running a small business while also running a family, and how they’ve adapted to the changes that Covid-19 has brought to their business.

What is your business about and why did you start it?

Petit Gifts is a Dubai based brand that specializes in beautifully designed gift baskets for newborns and infants. The layettes are made from the highest quality materials in Spain.

Our vision is to bring back classic clothes to a new generation of children. Each item in the basket has been handpicked making this the best present for a soon to be mama. Baskets can be delivered to the hospital or home.

The inspiration behind Petit Gifts comes from a long conversation between two friends. We bring along a decade of experience in children’s retail and felt that there was a gap in the market for high quality, beautifully designed layettes rich in Spanish heritage. At Petit Gifts, we are committed to providing mothers with comfortable baby clothing without compromising style and elegance.

Our main commitment is to offer the best gift for the soon-to-be mom. We wanted to launch the concept of newborn gift instead of flowers.

What do you love about your business?

We love the happiness moment of being part of a newborn, which is always a blessing and we love to be part of the gift of such important time.

We love the baby clothes and obviously love making the perfect basket, each item in the basket has been handpicked making this the best present for a soon to be mama.

How do you manage your time between running a business and a family?

We try to have time for everyone, as moms in Dubai there is a lot of pick up/drop off and a big etc but we are very good organized and we share all the work, we actually make a perfect team together and we enjoy running this beautiful business together. Our family is a huge support, and we are very thankful to their continue support in everything.

How has Covid-19 affected your business and how have you adapted?

We are born in Covid time, we have managed to find something positive about Covid which is running Petit Gift.

Any piece of advice to other small businesses owners or anyone wanting to start their own business?

Our secret is that we love what we do, there is no secret to make something you really enjoy, we make it with love and we understand what is to run a small business…step by step and never give up!!!
