During this time (and always!) it is so important to support local and the small business in our communities. Plus it’s great for the economy too! We are constantly inspired by the ambition and resilience of small business founders. We feel that the risks that they take lead to innovation and help in moving the world forward.

Inspired by these entrepreneurs and their stories, we recently chatted with Zuzana Berger – owner of Feel Good Shoes LLC, about being an entrepreneur, running a small business while also running a family, and how she’s adapted to the changes that Covid-19 has brought to her business.

What is your business about and why did you start it?

I import to Dubai and then sell via my e-shop and other portals (Mumzworld, Amazon.ae), children and (mostly) ladies leather sandals from a brand from my home country, PROTETIKA. The business started after I had my second child, to experience something new in my life. I believed, and still believe, that this product, genuine leather sandals, with their medical features – arch support in all sizes, and the closed heel counter, promote healthy foot development in kids, and ladies by wearing the orthopedic certified cork sandals avoid fallen arches. And moreover, my collection is affordable, as I import the sandals straight from the producer.

What do you love about your business?

Where do I start? ? I love the flexibility the eshop is giving me, I love the interest from my customers, often from neighboring European countries, who are used from their home to buy this type of proper footwear, but the existing brands in Dubai are too expensive considering how long the child will actually use a specific size. I love it that in Dubai we have summer all year round, so it is a lovely market for sandals.

How do you manage your time between running a business and a family?

I allocate my time in the morning for the business and afternoons belong to my children.

How has Covid-19 affected your business and how have you adapted?

I was sorry I could not be at monthly markets, because I believed I need to give a chance to customers to try the shoes, at least when buying this brand for the first time. But actually the lockdown jumpstarted my business. I myself was buying a lot of comfortable clothes online. Who would have thought that in the month when children could not even leave house, I sold the most shoes? Probably parents were buying one size bigger, and then, half a year later, it was much easier to just buy the next size.
