This summer camp, children will go several adventures at Redwood Center Of Excellence. They will take on the role of paleontologists discovering the world of dinosaurs, then they will go back in time to ancient Egypt and experience the wonders of this civilization. Children will immerse themselves in the spirit of ancient Greek athleticism and learn about the Greek Olympics and its many traditions and values. They will also become a Roman legionnaire, build medieval castles, and explore the techniques and styles of Renaissance art.

Odyssey Nursery:
Lights, Camera, Action!

This summer at Odyssey, we’ve put together a creative concept called the Project focusing on bringing out the storyteller in each child. We will combine 5 different areas of self-expression, including art, music, drama, theater, and photography, and explore how each of these can build their self-esteem and spark their creativity. We will learn to play instruments, use our voice and body movements on music day and we will dance to the beats of Zumba, Salsa and Hip Hop with a dance expert.

Children will learn the basic techniques of using a camera, opening up their eyes to new perspectives. We’ll be able to see the world in their eyes, as they capture special sights and moments and explore why these are important to them. For this, we’ll be hosting an expert from Nikon Photography Club Kids.

The little ones will learn to not only make up stories but to act them out, boosting creativity, communication skills and even self-confidence The process of making theater by developing a story from start to end, how it is told, and what it means, will spark curiosity and invite them to think in multiple directions, promoting their divergent thinking skills.They will be performing a scene from a storybook as well as creating stories on stones. Art will involve creating handmade musical instruments and masterpieces unique to each child and we’ll be going on a field trip to Picasso Artists Club during the course of the summer camp. At the end of the week we will put on several shows including, “Odyssey’s got talent” “Audition for all children,” and an art exhibition!
