Whether your kids are already on Spring Break or it’s fast-approaching, there’s lots to see and do around Dubai and the UAE. It’s a great time to catch an entertaining show and enjoy some unique outdoor activities before it gets too hot. There are also a few options of last-minute camps for kids, if you need to keep your kids busy and haven’t signed them up yet, plus some special events happening, marking the Spring season in Dubai!
Shows to See: For an interactive exhibit that’s interesting for both big kids and adults, check out the Banksy 360 digital show at the Theatre of Digital Art in Souk Madinat Jumeirah. It’s a great way to get your kids talking about street art and modern culture. If you want a dose of art and local culture, then head down to Al Seef in Dubai Cultural District Walk Into Art, where they’ve got 7 cultural art zones: scent art, sand art, wood, spices and flavors, beading, clay art, and weaving, and a kid’s art zone where kids can try all of these activities. At the Courtyard Playhouse in Al Quoz they’re celebrating their 10 year anniversary with special workshops and performances, including kids’ workshops, storytime and camps.
Before it Gets too Hot: This Spring Break is also a great time to get outdoors, before we can’t anymore, with everything from an Exotic sunrise balloon flight across the desert landscape and finishing with a decadent breakfast in a traditional Bedouin camp. The hot air balloon ride is suitable for parents and kids from 5 years of age, and at the desert camp they can also try a camel or horse ride. At Haddi Wadi Hub, you can take your family on a day of adventure doing everything from net walking, to archery, and wall climbing and with prices starting as low as 15 dirhams per activity.
Some wonderful outdoor venues will be closing soon, so it would be best to squeeze in your last visit with the kids, such as Dubai Garden Glow and Dubai Miracle Garden. It’s also the best time to go to Dubai Safari Park and see the animals up close and personal before the temperatures in Dubai start rising.
Last-Minute Camps: If you haven’t yet booked a spring camp, or need some last minute fun activities, there are some options for your kids. At Velocity in Al Quoz, they’re running a camp for kids aged 3 to 12 with arts and crafts, Zumba, pizza making, cookie designing, football and much more. If you have an aspiring mini chef or a kid that loves to get into the kitchen, check out Mamalu Kitchen’s Mini Chef Cooking Camp that will fuel their creativity, skills and even math learning. For little artists, International Studio they’re running an Art Camp, with up to 10 unique workshops around painting, drawing, mixed media and quilling.
Big Events: Speaking of the outdoors, don’t miss out on the fun outdoor events this Spring Break, from The Ultimate Polo Carnival at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club which has lots of kids activities on. The Polo Carnival is where kids can watch polo matches, go on pony rides, play games, do face painting, balloon bending, play on bouncy castles and enjoy a live barbecue and popcorn corner. Also at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club Sella restaurant, they’re throwing a PJ party for kids to come in their pyjamas and, eat and enjoy fun activities. Definitely an event for them to remember! At La Perle at Habtoor Palace Business Bay, they have a spectacular Iftar on, under a starry sky of Le Patio. It’s a special family night out during Spring and Ramadan.
There’s a lot to enjoy this Spring Break in Dubai, and if you have visitors in town, don’t forget to check out QiDZ bucket of activities that will make their stay easier and more fun.
