Is there anything more frightening than Halloween as a parent of young kids? Sugared-up children grabbing and fighting over bags of candy, tantrums over the perfect costume and total meltdowns when a little one spots a Freddy Kruger lookalike: this is the stuff of our Halloween nightmares.

The only solution that can make these scary scenarios disappear is planning a fun and stress-free Halloween for your kids. In Dubai this year, there are so many fun and well-planned events to take your kids to, that you won’t have to worry about making special memories or missing out on an exciting holiday.

In fact, you’ll be thankful to live in Dubai, as there are so many brunches and cool events that mean a relaxing time for parents, while the kids enjoy some Halloween fun.

If you just want to enjoy your relaxing weekend brunch with friends, while tricking your kids into thinking it’s all about them, go for Lapita Hotel’s Halloween brunch. It’s a Hotel Transylvania theme, there are kids’ Halloween activities and there’s even a prize for the best costume. At Swissotel’s Liwan Restaurant, they also have a themed Creepy brunch, full of delicious Halloween-themed food and kids’ entertainment, ensuring that you enjoy your day and the kids too.

If you are into all things cruelty-free and eco-friendly and you want a less consumer-style Halloween, then Zabeel House in The Greens is actually hosting a Halloween Market “Not Just for Vegans,” where you can shop for eco-friendly products while the kids join activities and workshops.

In fact, if you are into nature and doing good things with a conscience, Gulf for Good actually have a Halloween Hike exploring local caves and finding creepy remains and artefacts, that donates money to charity. It’s a great way to get outside and have an adventurous Halloween.

If you’ve got little kids who need a more structured Halloween activities, then definitely check out the Gymboween event by Gymboree Play & Music. It’s perfect for kids aged 3 to 8. They can show off their costumes during a parade, decorate pumpkins, trick or treat and do games and arts and crafts for a full day.

But what if your kids are those type of demanding Dubai kids that have seen it all and tried every activity? Trust me, there are a few events that will make even those type of kids happy. The Sonora Spooky Experience is set in the middle of the desert. Kids get to see live performances, watch horror movies and trick or treat and decorate cupcakes and cookies, all at a decorated camp in the sand dunes.

If your kids are amusement park and adventure lovers, there’s a Monster Party at Legoland. The entire Legoland has been transformed for Halloween and kids can wear the costumes to ride the rides and get into the Halloween spirit. Tickets are even on sale from now until the end of the month. Now if your kids are really full of energy, I would recommend the theme park crossed with a play park: IMG world. The Spooktober at IMG worlds of adventure is for those kids that need to get all their energy out, with rides, roller coasters and a brand new bouncy area with obstacles. Your hyper kids will be ready for bed after this day out!

All of this might sound great, but what if you are on a budget and maxed out on activities? Well the Haunted Village at Riverland is actually free! It’s a spooky experience with a strange pumpkin patch that’s suitable for all ages, and it’s actually on until November 20th, if you can’t make it this weekend. At Al Seef Village Mall they’ve also got a free of charge Halloween market that includes live entertainment and a show by Alistair the Magician at 6 pm. You will only have to pay for some of the activities that your kids choose, so this is also a great deal and a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Okay so you’ve read through all these activities and you’re thinking, this is too much for me! I just want to go out to lunch or dinner and have an easy weekend, but I have a young kid that doesn’t want to be cheated out of Halloween? Then, you should definitely book a meal at Myrra Spanish & Greek Restaurant on Palm Jumeirah. They’ve got the Halloween treats, face painting and activities for kids, but there’s nothing spooky or scary for your little one, there are no costumes required and you get the delicious Mediterranean meal that you’ve been looking forward to all week.
