With the winter weather finally here, we’ve rounded up our 5 favorite outdoor activities in the capital – with a few unusual ones thrown in as well! Check out what to do in Abu Dhabi below:
Kayaking at the Louvre Abu Dhabi
Take a 60 minute Kayak tour and enjoy the Louvre from the stillness of the Arabian Sea . Tours start from 5pm on weekdays so if you have children aged 6 and above, it’s a peaceful post-school activity.
Priced at AED 126 per person, tickets include a professional instructor and a light snack. If you’re more of an early bird, sunrise kayaking is available from 6.30am on weekends. Tours are available until the end of October and booking ahead is necessary. Find out more!
Movies in Umm Al Emarat Park
Grab a blanket and take your kids to enjoy a family movie outside in the fresh air at Umm Al Emarat Park. With two different movies screened each evening from Thursday to Saturday, it’s free for little ones aged 2 and under and AED 10 per person for everyone aged 3 and above. This week’s schedule starts with a family favorite:
Thursday 15 October: 6.30pm Frozen 2 / 8.30pm Angry Birds
Friday 16 October: 6.30pm Troll’s World Tour / 8.30pm Rango
Saturday 17 October: 6.30pm Sahara / 8.30pm Christopher Robin

Walking Trail – Al Wathba Wetland
Get closer to nature and see flamingoes, birds and insects along two walking paths at the Wetland Reserve. The free 1.5 kilometer trail takes about 25 minutes to walk and the longer, 3 kilometer route, around 45 minutes, with signs along the routes with info about the diverse local ecosystem. If you opt for the 3km route there’s a bird watching hide halfway!
