Qasr al Muwaiji
Qasr al Muwaiji is an impressive structure that has watched over the oasis for around 100 years. You can visit the exhibition, housed in an elegant glass-walled space within the courtyard of Qasr al Muwaiji, tells the story of the fort and its inhabitants. It focuses in particular on HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Walking Trail – Al Wathba Wetland
The walking trail at Al Wathba Wetland is one of our favorite places to visit in Abu Dhabi for free. Take the kids on a 1.5 kilometre (25 minutes walk) or a 3 kilometre walking trail (about 45 minutes) and see the flamingoes, birds, insects and enjoy the local flora and fauna. The walking paths have been built in a very natural style with wooden marks along the trails to allow visitors to discover the diverse ecosystems that exists in this reserve.
Al Bateen Beach
This beach overlooks Hudariyat Island and Hudariyat Bridge to the west of Abu Dhabi and has beautiful calm waters and a relaxed atmosphere. A perfect place for playing beach volleyball, having a waterfront picnic with a children’s playground, lifeguards and lots of water sport activities including kayaking and paddling.
Al Jahili Fort
Al Jahili Fort is one of the largest historical forts in the city of Al Ain, built in the 1890s on the orders of Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, also known as Zayed the First, as the home to members of the ruling Al Nahyan family.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Here’s another iconic place to visit in Abu Dhabi for free! This beautiful mosque was designed by the Syrian architect Yousef Abdelky and it is one of the world’s largest with 82 domes. The project was launched by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who wanted to unite the cultural diversity of the Islamic world.
FREE LEGO® Play Stations
If you’re in Yas Mall and you want to entertain the little ones for a while without it setting you back a dirham, head to The LEGO® Store on the first floor. They have a few stations set up so you can play and build things out of LEGO® and some cool displays to check out. Happy FREE play!

A Day At The Corniche Beach
Pass the day by the beach, and watch the kids enjoy the many play areas as well at the bicycle path. Hire a bike for the older kids and ride up and down the corniche path. You can even grab a bite to eat at the many restaurants and kiosks.
When dusk sets, join the many families who gather to BBQ. You can even set up a picnic in the green spaces along the Corniche path.

Botanical Garden at Umm Al Emarat Park
The park’s beautiful Botanic Garden has over 200 regional plant species. Many of which have cultural and historical significance, as well as a calming natural pond and unique water features.
