10 Family Activities While Observing Earth Hour 2020
Indoor|What's On
Now more than ever is an ideal time to celebrate earth hour. With just a few simple changes like turning off your lights, unplugging electrical appliances, recycling and conserving water, we are all able to make a difference in the future of the world.
So this Saturday 28th March 2020 is the perfect time (as we’ll all be in our homes anyways – #StayHome) to partake in Earth Hour from 8:30PM-9:30PM. And the QiDZ team have put together a list of things you can do with your family to keep busy and have fun too.
Have A Candle Lit Picnic
This is a fun one! Prepare a delicious dinner, get the kids to lay out a picnic while the parents light some candles, and enjoy a candlelit picnic in your home. Put your phones away and enjoy conversation with your family.
Play Board Games
Up for some Clue-do? Gather around the table, light some candles, and pull out the board game!
Read Your Favourite Books
Why not read together? If you have toddlers make it into story time, and if you have older kids let them pull out their favourite books and you get yours too- and read for an hour!
Make Art In The Dark – Draw Each Other’s Faces
This is one sure to make everyone laugh! Turn the lights off and draw each other’s faces in the dark. Post your creations on Instagram and tag us @qidz_uae so we can see them.
Un-plugged Karaoke
Grab a hair brush as a micro-phone and start singing! Get your family involved in singing all your favourite songs together.
Lights Out Treasure Hunt
This will keep the little ones busy for a while! Hide things around the home, and when earth hour begins give them the task of finding the treasures in the dark! Light some candles around the home so they can see where they are going.
Camp In Your Backyard (Or Home)
IF you have a backyard, set up a tent and camp with your kids, and if you don’t have a backyard – set up a blanket fort or tents in your home! Get the sleeping bags and enjoy eachother’s company.
Shadow Puppets
Pull out the flash light and take turns making shadow puppets against a wall! Make a game out of it where you have to guess what the other person is making.
Sleep
Head to bed early! It’s been a busy week homeschooling kids, so take a little extra time for yourself and go to sleep early.
Make A Family Resolution To Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Sit down with the family and talk about why it’s important to reduce your carbon footprint and changes you will be making around the home. Get everyone involved with a responsibility that is theirs alone – like making sure the recycling is in the recycling bin – or making sure all water taps are turned off.
