It’s the 50th anniversary of International Mother Earth Day on April 22, a reminder of how our planet provides us with life and sustenance.
With the destruction of natural ecosystems, it’s important now more than ever to help our little one’s understand the importance of preservation.
To mark International Mother Earth Day, here are some family-friendly activities for you to do with your family when it’s time go outside again!
Feed Marine Animals
Bring the kids to feed turtles at the turtle rehabilitation facility in Jumeirah Al Naseem Hotel Dubai. Feeding takes about 20 minutes with priority given to children, and takes place every Wednesday starting from 11 am. Free of charge and no booking required.
Clean The Beach And Feed Hammours
The Emirates Marine Environmental Group maintains a coastal sanctuary and reserve on the western border of Dubai – Al Ghantoot. The area is used as a base to develop and organize educational day trips for school, community and corporate groups to increase awareness and understanding of the different threats the environmental faces.
Families can also take part in beach clean ups and a hammour feeding session.
Be Rewarded When You Recycle
This is a great way to teach children about recycling and how it helps the environment and people as well.
Keep plastic bottles and aluminium cans in your home and take them to the Recycle – Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) on G level Dubai Marina Mall.
Each time a recyclable is deposited, the RVM issues a receipt with a unique barcode, which the user scans through the Bee’ah mobile application, qualifying them to enter the Bee’ah Rewards monthly draw.
All these fantastic experiences aim to increase awareness and understanding of different threats the environment faces
These are also exciting ways to spend time with your family while teaching the little ones about how little steps can change our habits and contribute to preserving Mother Earth.
